President Xi Jinping has urged China's supply and marketing cooperatives to stay true to their fundamental purpose of serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers, continue deepening comprehensive reforms, and make contributions to the advancement of rural vitalization. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction on the sector's work.

供銷(xiāo)合作社是我國(guó)農(nóng)民自愿籌集股金并由國(guó)家扶助起來(lái)的社會(huì)主義合作經(jīng)濟(jì)組織。
1949年11月，中央合作事業(yè)管理局成立，主管全國(guó)合作事業(yè)。1950年7月，中華全國(guó)合作社聯(lián)合總社成立，統(tǒng)一領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和管理全國(guó)的供銷(xiāo)、消費(fèi)、信用、生產(chǎn)、漁業(yè)和手工業(yè)合作社。1954年7月，中華全國(guó)合作社聯(lián)合總社更名為中華全國(guó)供銷(xiāo)合作總社，建立了全國(guó)統(tǒng)一的供銷(xiāo)合作社系統(tǒng)。
黨的十八大以來(lái)，以習(xí)近平同志為核心的黨中央把解決好“三農(nóng)”問(wèn)題作為全黨工作重中之重，供銷(xiāo)合作社綜合改革深入推進(jìn)。
經(jīng)過(guò)長(zhǎng)期發(fā)展，供銷(xiāo)合作社現(xiàn)代流通網(wǎng)絡(luò)覆蓋面迅速擴(kuò)大，為農(nóng)服務(wù)領(lǐng)域進(jìn)一步拓展、功能日益凸顯，成為經(jīng)營(yíng)性服務(wù)功能充分發(fā)揮、公益性服務(wù)作用不斷體現(xiàn)的新型農(nóng)村合作經(jīng)濟(jì)組織，是推動(dòng)農(nóng)村經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展和社會(huì)進(jìn)步的重要力量。
